Domain Names Policy<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Effective date: February 5, 2026<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Introduction<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

This Domain Names Policy (\u201cPolicy\u201d) explains the terms that apply when you register, transfer, renew, or manage a domain name through MatrixDomainHosting.ca<\/strong>, operated by Naissco<\/strong> (\u201cMatrix Domain Hosting,\u201d \u201cwe,\u201d \u201cus,\u201d \u201cour\u201d). This Policy is part of (and should be read with) our Terms of Service<\/strong>, Acceptable Use Policy<\/strong>, and Privacy Policy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Important:<\/strong> Domain names are governed not only by our terms, but also by the rules of the applicable registry (e.g., CIRA for .CA) and, for many domains, ICANN policies (e.g., UDRP\/URS). If there is a conflict, mandatory registry\/ICANN rules generally prevail.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

1) Definitions<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

  • \n

    Domain Name \/ Domain<\/strong>: The alphanumeric name registered under a top-level domain (e.g., example.ca, example.com).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    TLD<\/strong>: Top-Level Domain (e.g., .ca, .com).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Registry<\/strong>: The organization that operates a TLD (e.g., CIRA<\/strong> for .CA).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Registrar \/ Sponsoring Registrar<\/strong>: The ICANN-accredited or registry-authorized registrar of record for your domain.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Registrant \/ Registered Name Holder<\/strong>: The individual or entity listed as the domain holder.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    WHOIS \/ RDDS \/ RDAP<\/strong>: Systems used to publish or provide access to registration data, subject to policy and privacy rules.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Auth Code \/ EPP Code<\/strong>: Transfer authorization code used for many TLD transfers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    NAISSCO:<\/b> North America Integrated Systems Solutions Corp that operates matrixdomainhosting.ca<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

    2) Our role and third-party providers<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n
      \n
    • \n

      We provide domain services through one or more third-party registrars and\/or wholesale providers. Depending on the TLD, your domain may be registered with a specific Sponsoring Registrar<\/strong> and governed by that registrar\u2019s registration agreement in addition to this Policy. You authorize us to submit, renew, transfer, modify, and manage domains on your behalf as needed to deliver the services you request.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

      3) Eligibility and registry requirements (including .CA)<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n
        \n
      • \n

        3.1 General eligibility<\/h3>\n

        You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and you must have the authority to register a domain (for yourself or for the organization you represent).<\/p>\n

        3.2 .CA (Canadian presence requirements)<\/h3>\n

        Registration of .CA<\/strong> domains is subject to CIRA\u2019s rules<\/strong>, including Canadian presence requirements. If you register a .CA domain, you represent that you meet those requirements and will maintain compliance for as long as you hold the domain. If a registry audit or validation fails, the domain may be suspended or cancelled.<\/p>\n

        3.3 Registry-specific rules for all TLDs<\/h3>\n

        Each TLD has its own policies (registration terms, transfer rules, grace periods, local presence requirements, naming rules, etc.). You agree to comply with the applicable registry rules for every domain you register or manage through us.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

        4) Availability searches and registration requests<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n
          \n
        • \n

          4.1 Search results are not a guarantee<\/h3>\n

          Domain search results reflect best-effort availability checks. A domain may become unavailable at any time (including between search and checkout).<\/p>\n

          4.2 When registration becomes effective<\/h3>\n

          A registration\/transfer\/renewal is not complete until confirmed by the registrar\/registry. If we cannot complete a domain request after receiving payment (e.g., domain is taken, registry rejects, verification fails), we will either:<\/p>\n

          • \n

            refund the domain fee for the unsuccessful transaction, or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            where appropriate, offer alternatives (e.g., different TLD) at your direction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            4.3 Premium and reserved domains<\/h3>\n

            Some domains are designated as \u201cpremium\u201d by registries\/marketplaces and may carry higher prices or special terms. Certain names are also reserved or prohibited by registry policy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

            5) Your responsibilities: accuracy, verification, and account security<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n
              \n
            • \n

              5.1 Accurate contact data<\/h3>\n

              You must provide current, complete, and accurate<\/strong> registrant\/contact information and keep it updated promptly (including registrant name, address, email, and phone). Many registries require verification of email or other contact data. Failure to maintain accurate data may result in suspension, cancellation, or transfer denial.<\/p>\n

              5.2 Monitoring email<\/h3>\n

              You are responsible for monitoring the email address on file. Important notices (verification requests, renewal reminders, transfer approvals, policy notices) are sent there. Missed emails can result in loss of domain control.<\/p>\n

              5.3 Securing your account<\/h3>\n

              You are responsible for safeguarding your client portal login, domain locks, and transfer codes. Any person with access to your account may be able to change DNS, update contacts, and approve transfers. We are not responsible for losses caused by compromised credentials.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

              6) WHOIS\/RDDS privacy and data handling<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

              • \n

                6.1 Publication of registration data<\/h3>\n

                Depending on the TLD and policy requirements, certain registration data may be published or made accessible via WHOIS\/RDDS\/RDAP, subject to privacy and legal rules.<\/p>\n

                6.2 .CA privacy note (general)<\/h3>\n

                For some .CA registrations, certain registrant information may be automatically restricted from public display depending on the registrant type and registry policy. Registry rules control how .CA data appears.<\/p>\n

                6.3 Privacy services<\/h3>\n

                WHOIS privacy\/proxy services (where available) may be offered for certain TLDs. Not all TLDs allow privacy\/proxy. Privacy services do not shield unlawful activity and may be removed or limited where required by policy, dispute processes, or law.<\/p>\n

                6.4 Our Privacy Policy applies<\/h3>\n

                How we collect, use, and disclose personal information is described in our Privacy Policy (including disclosures to registrars\/registries and service providers to deliver domain services).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                7) DNS, nameservers, and domain configuration<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                You may manage DNS and nameservers through our tools (where available). DNS changes can affect website\/email availability. You are responsible for changes you make (or authorize). We are not liable for downtime or loss caused by incorrect DNS configuration, TTL timing, third-party DNS outages, or propagation delays.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                8) Renewals, expiration, and grace periods<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                8.1 Renewal responsibility<\/h3>\n

                You are responsible for renewing domains before they expire. We may send renewal reminders, but reminders are not guaranteed and do not replace your responsibility.<\/p>\n

                8.2 Auto-renew<\/h3>\n

                If you enable auto-renew and have a valid payment method on file, you authorize us to attempt renewal and charge applicable fees and taxes. Auto-renew can be disabled in your client area before the renewal processing window.<\/p>\n

                8.3 Expired domains and post-expiration states<\/h3>\n

                If a domain expires, it may enter one or more registry-defined phases (which vary by TLD), such as:<\/p>\n

                  Grace period<\/strong> (renewal at standard fee may still be possible), and\/or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Redemption<\/strong> (restoration may require additional fees), and\/or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Pending delete \/ release<\/strong> (domain may become available to others).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  We do not guarantee that an expired domain can be renewed or recovered. If a domain is not renewed, it may be parked, redirected, suspended, or otherwise handled as permitted by registry\/registrar policy, and may ultimately be deleted or released.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                  9) Transfers (to us or away from us)<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                  9.1 Transfer requirements<\/h3>\n

                  Many TLD transfers require:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • \n

                    the domain to be unlocked,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    a valid Auth\/EPP code<\/strong>, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    approval via email or portal authorization.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    9.2 Transfer restrictions<\/h3>\n

                    Some registries\/registrars restrict transfers (commonly within 60 days<\/strong> of initial registration, prior transfer, or certain registrant data changes). These restrictions are policy-based and not controlled by us.<\/p>\n

                    9.3 Timing and risk<\/h3>\n

                    Transfers can take several days and may fail due to incorrect codes, domain locks, expiration timing, verification issues, registry rules, or email approval problems. You assume the risk of delays and should not initiate transfers close to expiration.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                    \n

                    10) Suspensions, holds, cancellations, and corrective actions<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                    We may deny, suspend, lock, cancel, or place a domain on hold (and\/or refuse a transaction) where we reasonably believe it is necessary to:<\/p>\n

                      \n
                    • \n

                      comply with registry\/registrar\/ICANN rules,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      respond to court orders, dispute provider decisions, law enforcement requests, or lawful demands,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      address fraud, chargebacks, non-payment, or billing irregularities,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      correct errors (pricing, provisioning, registry actions),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      enforce our Terms\/AUP (e.g., phishing, malware, spam, trademark abuse), or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      protect the stability and integrity of our systems and upstream providers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Where feasible, we will attempt to notify you using your account contact details.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                      \n

                      11) Fees, taxes, and payment issues<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                      11.1 Pricing<\/h3>\n

                      Domain fees (registration, renewal, transfer, redemption\/restoration) are shown at checkout or in your client area. Some TLD fees are set by registries and can change. We may adjust prices with notice where practicable.<\/p>\n

                      11.2 Taxes<\/h3>\n

                      Applicable taxes may apply depending on your location and the nature of the service.<\/p>\n

                      11.3 Chargebacks and reversals<\/h3>\n

                      If a payment is reversed or charged back, we may suspend your account and domain services and\/or place domains on hold until balances and any applicable administrative costs are resolved.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                      \n

                      12) Refunds<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                      Because domain transactions often trigger immediate, non-reversible costs with registries\/registrars:<\/p>\n

                      • \n

                        Successful<\/strong> domain registrations, transfers, renewals, and restorations are non-refundable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                      • \n

                        If we cannot<\/strong> complete a domain registration\/transfer\/renewal that you paid for (e.g., registry rejects), we will refund the fee for that unsuccessful transaction (or may apply it as credit).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        Some TLDs and situations may have stricter non-refundable rules dictated by registry policy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                        \n

                        13) Disputes and intellectual property<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                        13.1 Domain disputes (UDRP\/URS and .CA CDRP)<\/h3>\n

                        You agree to be bound by the applicable dispute policies, which may include:<\/p>\n

                        • \n

                          UDRP<\/strong> (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) for many gTLDs,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                        • \n

                          URS<\/strong> (Uniform Rapid Suspension) for certain TLDs, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                        • \n

                          CDRP<\/strong> (CIRA Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) for .CA domains.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          We do not adjudicate domain ownership disputes between third parties. We will comply with final decisions and orders from competent dispute providers, registries, or courts.<\/p>\n

                          13.2 Your responsibility<\/h3>\n

                          You are responsible for ensuring your domain registration and use do not violate trademarks or other rights, and for responding to any dispute or claim.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                          14) Limitation of liability<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                          To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:<\/p>\n

                          • \n

                            loss of a domain due to expiration, missed notices, failed verification, or transfer issues,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                          • \n

                            downtime or loss caused by DNS changes, propagation delays, third-party outages, or upstream failures,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                          • \n

                            registry\/registrar actions outside our control,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                          • \n

                            indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages (including lost profits).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                            If liability is found despite the above, our aggregate liability will be limited to the amount you paid to us for the specific domain transaction or service at issue during the applicable service period, unless a higher minimum is required by law.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                            15) Indemnification<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                            You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MatrixDomainHosting.ca\/Naissco, our suppliers, registrars, registries, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims or damages arising out of:<\/p>\n

                            • \n

                              your registration, use, or transfer of a domain,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                            • \n

                              content or activities associated with your domain,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                            • \n

                              your breach of this Policy, our Terms\/AUP, CIRA, or registry\/ICANN rules,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                            • \n

                              alleged infringement of third-party rights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                              \n

                              16) Changes to this Policy<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                              We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on our website and\/or communicated through your account contact email where appropriate. Continued use of domain services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

                              17) Governing law<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n

                              This Policy is governed by the laws of Canada<\/strong> and the laws of the Province of Saskatchewan<\/strong>, without regard to conflict of laws principles, except where registry\/ICANN policies require otherwise for domain disputes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
